Friends of Croesor
Friends of Croesor was established in 1998 as a social enterprise to improve the culture, economy and environment of Cwm Croesor and Llanfrothen area.
In 2000 a second-hand shop, Siop Mela, was opened in Penrhyndeudraeth, in order to raise money for local causes and to support the organisation.
In 2001 the Bryn Gelynnen farm buildings were bought in order to adapt them for community use. By 2007 Caffi Croesor had been opened and further on in 2008 the gallery was opened. By now, Oriel Caffi Croesor is used as a place for people in the area to socialise or rented for private occasions.
Many community events take place here with the help of the Hwb Croesor group volunteers, who also keep the community garden in order and coordinate fundraising events.
Over the past few years, we have received a number of grants to hold music and artist events, forest school sessions for children, carry out essential repair work on the buildings and employ local persons/businesses to carry out a feasibility study on the best use of our assets.
Friends of Croesor are proud to work together with other initiatives in the area such as Menter y Ring, Plas Brondanw, Y Dref Werdd, Siop Mela, Cwmni Bro Ffestiniog, Deudraeth Cyf and Llanfrothen Council.
